Home speech therapy practice — the fun way
Sound Safari is home practice for kids working on their speech sounds — built alongside speech-language pathologists. Fun games, clear progress tracking, and homework straight from your child's SLP.

How it works

Your therapist assigns
Personalized homework with specific sounds and word lists, tailored to your child's needs.

Your child plays
Seven game modes make speech practice feel like play, not work — and score accuracy as they go.

Progress syncs back
Accuracy charts and streaks show the trend over time — and your SLP sees every session, no paper logs.

See where your child is — and what's coming next
Speech sounds arrive in a typical order, from age 3 to 7. Sound Safari maps your child's sounds onto that path — what's usually mastered by their age, what's still developing, and what comes later.
A guide, not a test — every child has their own pace.
Practice that kids want to come back to
The hard part of speech practice isn't the words — it's doing it again tomorrow. Sound Safari turns every session into a small win worth chasing, so showing up becomes your child's idea, not yours.
Showing up is the first win
Practice two days running and a streak begins — the gentle nudge that turns "I have to" into "I did it again." A calm weekly recap waits in the Homework tab.
Every sound climbs its own ladder
As accuracy grows, a sound moves up — Words to Phrases to Sentences to Stories. Leveling up means ready for a harder challenge, not that it's finished.
The celebration kids chase
Reach the very top of the ladder and a sound earns a Star — the rarest moment in the app. Once it's earned, it's earned for good, even after an off day.
Celebrations describe what your child did in practice — not a clinical judgment. Whether a sound carries into everyday conversation is your therapist's call.
Everything your child needs to practice
One subscription, up to two children, every sound.
Custom word lists
Build a list from your child's own words — their name, their pets, the things they love — and practice those right alongside the built-in sets.

Homework portal
Your therapist's assignments open right in your browser — no extra setup.
7 fun practice games
From classic flashcards to minimal pairs and matching — every session feels different, so kids stay engaged longer.
Record & replay
Capture a practice session and play it back to hear progress over time.
See real progress, not just stars
Per-sound accuracy charts show the trend over time, so every celebration is backed by real gains.

Frequently asked questions
Common questions from parents before they download.
Do I need an account for my child to use Sound Safari? expand_more
You'll create a parent account and add your child as a student profile (up to 2 children on the parent plan). Your child doesn't need their own account — they use the app through yours. Everything stays on your device, synced via your personal iCloud.
How does home speech practice work? expand_more
Pick a sound your child is working on (or open a homework assignment from your SLP), choose a game mode, and practice for 5–15 minutes. Sound Safari tracks accuracy automatically. Practice streaks and daily progress keep kids motivated to come back tomorrow.
Is Sound Safari safe for kids? expand_more
Yes. Sound Safari has no ads, no third-party tracking, and no data collection. Your child's data never leaves your device. There are no in-app purchases or links out to the web during practice.
How much does the parent plan cost? expand_more
The parent plan is $4.99/month, or $4/month when billed annually ($47.99/year). You get a 14-day free trial with full access — no credit card required upfront. You can cancel anytime.
Can I use Sound Safari without an SLP? expand_more
Yes. You don't need a speech-language pathologist to use Sound Safari. The parent plan is designed to work standalone — pick a sound, start practicing, track progress. That said, Sound Safari is not a replacement for professional evaluation. If you think your child has a speech delay, talk to a licensed SLP.
How does Sound Safari compare to Speech Blubs or Articulation Station? expand_more
Speech Blubs is built for toddlers learning their first words — more video-driven and general. Sound Safari is for structured articulation practice once your child is already talking and working on specific sounds. Articulation Station is aimed at SLPs and costs more — Sound Safari's parent plan ($4.99) is a better fit for home practice. See our Speech Blubs comparison and Articulation Station comparison for details.
Will it work on my child's iPad? expand_more
Yes. Sound Safari runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or later. It works offline once the app is downloaded, so long car rides and travel won't slow practice down.
Do you have a free trial? expand_more
Yes — every plan includes a 14-day free trial with full access to every feature. Cancel anytime during the trial and you won't be charged.
